Gluten Sucks, This Doesn't: Schar Parbaked Ciabatta Rolls

Why So Obsessed?

Truth be told, finding decent gluten free rolls was one of the hardest swaps post-Celiac. Since trying these Schar Parbaked Ciabatta rolls, I've never so much as purchased another brand. I pop the bag in the freezer, pull out one roll when I need it, and toss it in a 400 degree oven for 10 minutes. No need to defrost.

The packs of 4 rolls come in 2 varieties: Multigrain and Regular. The multigrain is kind of a savior since finding wholesome gluten free rolls, bread, etc. is pretty difficult. But both kinds are really, truly delicious.

I like mine dunked in herbed olive oil or marinara. Often times, I'll bake one before going out to dinner, wrap it in foil, and pop it in my purse. Will you get a weird look from the waiter? Probably. Will you be sad when the rest of the group dives into the bread basket? Not a chance!

So Where Can I Get It?

I have a pretty easy time finding these in supermarkets. The Gristedes on 3rd and 32nd in Manhattan as a huge gluten free section, and I've also bought them at Shoprite and A&P, both in NJ.

If you want to buy online, there are a few links below. Keep in mind they're vacuum sealed (or something) so they can be stored for quite some time before you open them. Just check the expiration date!

To buy a pack of 6, Amazon is the cheapest (if you take shipping into account).

Amazon: Multigrain Ciabatta ($32.99 + $7.99 shipping)
Amazon: Regular Ciabatta ($33.70 + free shipping)

Schar Online Store: Multigrain Ciabatta ($31.86 + shipping*)
Schar Online Store: Regular Ciabatta ($31.29 + shipping*)

*with one pack of 6 ordered, shipping to NYC was ~$12.

Disclosure: The regular rolls were sent to me by the lovely people at Schar. (Even though I already had 2 packs in my freezer!) I picked up the multigrain rolls myself.

  1. I have just discovered Schar products here (the muesli I'm loving is by them!) - so excited that these exist! Maybe time for a gourmet sandwich?
